Bengaluru school failed class 1 student, put on notice

The department of public instruction reportedly slapped a notice on Clarence High School (CHS) that has allegedly violated the provisions of Right to Education Act (RTE).

According to the reports, the 100-year-old ICSE School did not promote a few of Standard 1 students in the examinations.

This is in violation of the RTE norms that say that students of classes 1 to VIII should not be detained even if they are deemed to have failed in the exams.

After receiving a complaint from Arun R, that his son wasn't promoted from 1 to 2 standard in the school, the block education officer V Ramesh reportedly issued the notice asking for an explanation.
