Kalam presses to end colonial era

Former President A P J Abdul Kalam has called the dress code of convocations in the country to be a product of the British rule and has urged educational Institutes to do away with that style.

He was the chief guest at the elite convocation ceremony of the premier institute, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kurukshetra, which was conducted on Thursday. He had awarded degrees to students.

In his address Kalam said that we should take a pledge to have our own dress code for such ceremonies. He stated that it is high time to quit the British gown on such occasions.
