Basanti Tollywood Movie Review
Story:
A serious tale, the story begins with Arjun (goutham) a college student who is easy going guy hanging out with his friends (ranadheer, naveena). He falls in love with Roshni (alisha), daughter of police commissioner Khan (sayaji). Twist occurs when a group of terrorists enter Arjun’s college and take the students as hostage. Though he is not there at that time, Arjun still goes inside the college. Why does he do that and what happens from there forms the rest.

Presentation:
The director has come up with a serious storyline and while the presentation was good quality, the narrative was good in parts. The dialogues were adequate. The script was average and the screenplay was moderate. The background score was melodious and three songs were worth watching. Cinematography was efficient. Editing was required at few places. Costumes were good enough while the art department was apt. Goutham has to work more on his expressions and body language but his efforts were sincere. Alisha was cute but not that appealing. Sayaji Shinde was excellent, he gave a matured performance. The villain was a miscast. Ranadheer made his presence felt and he deserves more opportunities. Naveena was alright. Dhanraj was not used properly. Tanikella Bharani was sensible.

Conclusion:
The film comes across with the backdrop of terrorism and certain elements of youth but such subjects require deft handling of script along with experienced actors to bring that intensity. The first half was routine with elements of some comedy and romance mixed with action. The second half gets into a total different mode filled with seriousness and melodrama. Overall, this is a film which is meant for the serious audience and not for those who seek masala entertainment. At the box office, this would be an average to below average treat.

Bharatstudent verdict: Good subject but could have been handled better
