Viyyalavari Kayyalu Tollywood Movie Review

Story
What appears to be the title for a full length family entertainer with adequate comedy may not sound true when you watch this film. Viyyalavari Kayyalu in short VVK revolves around the story of two love birds Vamshi (Uday Kiran) and Nandini (Neha Jhulka), while Vamshi runs a business as a hairstylist in the city and is the son of  a Justice (Sayaji Shinde), Nandini is from a village in the Rayalaseema area who comes to the city to study. For reasons better known to them both of them fall in love and Vamshi takes the onus of going to Rayalaseema to convince Nandini's brother Bhoopathi Rayudu (Sri Hari) who is a factionist in the village. Ironically, both Vamshi' father and Nandini's brother stand by Dharma and truth but in their very own ways. What follows is a see-saw game of how Vamshi tries to convince Bhoopathi Rayudu for marrying Nandini and subsequently how the justice is convinced by the girl's side and that too by the factionist Bhoopathi Rayudu.

Presentation
Director Satti Babu should understand that the subject though interesting needs to have the required depth to create an impact on the audience. The first flaw lies in having a hairstylist role for the main lead which ended up showing the hero more as a barber than anything else. While Uday Kiran managed to carry the role with some impression, he still needs to work on his expressions, Neha suits well as a college student only and not like a woman, for that she needs to put on some flesh at the right places to give that oomph and woman presence. Sayaji Shinde has been underutilized, the comedy track (Venu Madhav,Raghu Babu, Krishna Bhagwan) manages some smiles but the script could have been more tacky.Jaya Prakash Reddy passed out more as a comedian than a villain in the movie. The only credits to this flick is the superb performance by Sri Hari who has overshadowed Uday with his presence and dialogue delivery, some good music by Ramana Gogula with two numbers that will be there in the minds for some time. Fights by the twins Ram-Laxman are power packed. Dialogues are average.

Conclusion
VVK is a movie with a good subject and very poor depth, the romance angle is very weak. Kayyalu sounds very humorous and the audiences expect a hearty laugh but the whole idea fizzles out due to the faction theme. While the first half passes out with the characters' introduction and the love story, the actual Kayyalu starts in the second half but thanks to the faction angle it doesn't have much say. The good side is the traditional aspect which shows the respect for elders and the need for principles while the flip side is lack of substance and flavor on the love and drama areas.

Bharatstudent Verdict: Poor movie!! Doesn't have the depth; go for it if you have nothing else to do.
