Brahmanandam Drama Company Tollywood Movie Review

Story:

A rotten comedy, the story is about Brahmanandam Drama Company which is headed by Brahmanandam (Brahmanandam) and has the lead cast of two guys (Sivaji and Ravi Krishna) and one heroine (Sameeksha) along with the rest of troupe (Apoorva, Sivaji and others). They are into stage shows and luck shines on the company when they get a call from Bangkok to do a performance. However, just before everyone is set to take off, the heroine sneaks out and Brahmanandam discovers that it was due to the lead guys that she has given a jump. When the tour manager (AVS) starts enquiring he cooks up some story and then assigns the task of getting a replacement to the two guys. They go in search and find a girl called Arpita (Kamalini) who is on the verge of committing suicide. In truth, she is Archana who is caught up in a drug cartel and brings in more trouble for the troupe. What happens to the show? Is it successful? How do they manage to come out of the whole mess forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:

The director has come up with a shabby presentation of the story and neither the narration nor the presentation was good. Nothing much happened in the technical departments either. The saving grace of the movie were the two songs which provided relief, it was the script that played the major devil which was absolutely weak. The editing was numb, dialogues were stale, camera was average and background score was shoddy. Brahmanandam turned out to be a major disappointment as he did not generate what was expected of him but it was due to the role that was etched out that limited his performance. Sivaji has again goofed up with a weak role, Ravi Krishna will take ages to become an actor, if he is serious about acting then he needs to get the basics right, Kamalini has gone much leaner which is not good news and Sameeksha was the only bright thing who was there for a brief period but made up for the visual treat. Raghu Babu, Dharmavarapu, Ali all of them were grossly underutilized. The others need no mention here.

Conclusion:

With an appealing title and a horde of talented artistes, the film has set an expectation among the audience before they enter the screens but then it has not been able to fulfill the requirement by even 40%. While the first half is monotonous with stale and lifeless comedy, the second half goes even worse and the climax hits the final nail on the head. It is the suspense element that was giving the final beats of the heart otherwise it would not have been a surprise if the viewers had walked out of the halls half way. It is really amusing to see why the filmmakers don't work on their basics of getting the script right when they go in for a comedy venture. Anyways, the film will sink in no time and the countdown has already begun.

Bharatstudent verdict: Worth a yawn, can be ignored without a second thought...
