Rameswaram Kollywood Movie Review

The film is yet another attempt in Kollywood to portray the life of Sri Lankan Tamils and their struggle.

Story:
Jeeva and his friends come to Rameswaram after his family members are killed in the ethnic conflict in Sri Lanka. His father is the only other surviving member in his family. Manivannan is a teacher in Jaffna. He is rich and has many landholdings in Jaffna. But he is forced to leave his hometown with his son Jeeva to escape being killed.

Jeeva comes across a beautiful girl Bhavana and falls in love with her. She is the daughter of Lal. But just like in many Tamil films, she has an evil cousin in inspector Bose. He makes life hell for both Jeeva and Bhavana. Does Jeeva succeed in his love? Does he manage to go back to his homeland? Answers to all this and more can be found on the screen.

Rameswaram Tamil Cinema Review

Performance:
Jeeva as a Tamil refuge comes off very well. But he is not convincing enough, as his language is not that of a Tamil refugee. Bhavana is okay but at times falters. Lal as Bhavana's father comes up with a good performance. The rest go about their roles in a routine manner.
Music by Niru is good. He is a Sri Lankan Tamil and his 'Ellaraiyum Ethipoga Poga' numbers brings back memories for many refugees and bring tears in the eyes of the audience.

Analysis:
The film is an honest attempt to throw light on the plight of Tamil refugees in Tamil Nadu. Director Selvam succeeds to some extent in his efforts.

Bharatstudent Verdict:
The clich├ęd plot turns it into an average movie. It promises much but fails to deliver. This is just another time pass flick.
