Prarthane Sandalwood Movie Review

Story: A sensible tale, the story is about Purushottama (anant nag), a teacher of Kannada who has a hand to mouth situation. On the other hand, his wife Shanti (pavitra) is quite greedy and she is concerned about the future of her son Sachin (master sachin). Knowing that her husband cannot do much, Shanti takes up a job at a computer centre. The story takes a turn with the emergence of an English convent and Shanti takes away Sachin from the Kannada school to the convent. Meanwhile, Purushottama is in touch with the wealthy Thimmappa (prakash raj) who has a penchant for dramas. He gets full guidance from Purushottama for his roles. However, when Purushottama asks for funds to revamp the school building, Purushottama lays a condition. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Presentation: The director has come up with a thought provoking storyline and while the presentation was alright, the narrative was intense. The dialogues were charged up, the script was written with value and screenplay was prompt. Background score was good but only one songs was there for listening. Cinematography was worthy. Editing was regular. Costumes were trendy and natural while the art department was suiting the moods. Anant Nag has come up with an award winning performance, he was good. Equally superb was Prakash Raj and his dialogue delivery. Pavitra Lokesh was sensuous and sensible in her act. Master Sachin and Master Manoj were effective. Others did their bit as required.

Conclusion: The very thought of highlighting the depleting presence of Kannada language and Kannada medium catches the attention of all. Moreover, with fine performances and a content which is universally applicable to all has been chosen and presented in a deft way. While the first half goes about with the layering of the plot, the second half gets intense. Overall, this is a film which must be watched for the sheer concern that is threatening the presence of many cultures. At the box office, this could reap good benefits and sent for international fests too.
Bharatstudent verdict: Meaningful and eye opening, watch it!!
